SENSES
The moment you caressed my essence
My senses were pulled into paradise
Delivering blesses through my brand new soul
That gave me a breath worthy of inhaling
Loving to look at your beautiful face
Wet happiness escaping my eyes
Tears that express how wonderful you make me feel
Eyes glowing with a light that gives the sun competition
Eyes that tell the world how much I love you
Wanting to touch you
Massaging your entire frame into total relaxation
Feeling your soft and warm skin beneath my fingers
Stroking your karma; putting it at ease
Smelling the scent of your naturally perfumed body
Redolence that defeats the aroma of a sweeten rose
Vending fragrance to the world as the wind strokes your physique
Giving everyone a whiff of a pleasing incense
Tasting your lips as they greet mine
A flavor that has a phenomenal zest to it
Presenting me with a appetite to devour your spirit
Enjoying the relish you are extending to me
The sound of you voice is like comforting compositions
Soothing and relaxing me with warmed words
Gentle tones that sends chills through my body
Speaking to my being; assuring it you’re hear to stay
Your love has heightened my senses
Making me realize it is you I need in my life

Commentary: As a poet that has been in love with the same man for half
my life, I adore poetry that speaks positively of passionate lovers, in
a way that makes you wanna grab your honey for a quick game of Show And
Tell; "Senses" is all that, a bag'a chips, some pop and a slice of sweet
potato pie. In this piece, Shawn evokes images of a strong but sensitive
man that those who are blessed enough to have one, can Testify to--and
those who haven't been there done that yet, can at least look forward to
having someday. Taken, on face value, as a description of a sexual
escapade, you can almost feel the pulsing excitement as he describes his
poetic self as "Wanting to touch you/Massaging your entire frame into
total relaxation/Feeling your soft and warm skin beneath my fingers".
But this is no mere physical seduction; the entire self--mind, body and
soul--get in on this sensual journey: "Stroking your karma; putting it
at ease...Tasting your lips as they greet mine/A flavor that has a
phenomenal zest to it/Presenting me with an appetite to devour your
spirit." The words flow naturally, as Good Poetry should; a bottle of
wine, candlelight and soft music in the background, would compliment
this scene rather nicely. Dunno about anyone else, but that would be
one brother that would not be lonely *that* night! Well done, Shawn.

comment: Beautifully expressed poem. :) :) I really relate to the idea
that this love that's felt permeates the being, and yet, can be felt
with the individual senses. It is like being reborn with the knowledge
of how your being works and appreciating it: "a breath worthy of inhaling",
"the scent of your...body", "the sound of your voice..gentle tones.." that
reverberate though to the soul. These are great descriptions of "senses
heightened" in the discovery of powerful love and the peace, "Speaking to
my being; assuring it you're hear to stay" that it is real. Thanks Shawn!
