SENSATIONS

Soft summer breezes and butterflies blow overhead
as I bask in the hot Georgia sun thinking, wondering
just what the future holds for me

I dream one day I'll be drowning in bliss, my Queen
by my side forever smiling and the sunshine of her spirit
soothes me like an infant in its mothers arms

Then a cool raindrop touches my forehead breaking the
unyielding heat of this summer day and I relax.....ooh the sensation

How I long for love, the feeling of being needed by my lady
someone whose smile says I appreciate you, I adore you,
and more importantly, support you for supporting me

As I open my eyes and rise from my brief period of meditation
there you are, smooth as silk and pretty as a spring rose. So
gentle, yet strong. Full of passion for your man it's all in your
eyes BabyGirl. An escape from reality to clear my cluttered mind,
but I missed you so badly while I was away

Then you touch me, just a simple stroke of your finger to my
puckered lips and I now know why I love you so.

SOULMATES

Search your own heart and ask for your loneliness to end
Pray that they will be sent to you -- someone kind and gentle with heart
Whom you can trust, be comfortable with and completely depend
Someone who makes light of adversity and misfortunes from the start.

Someone who shares triumphs -- however big or small
With weaknesses so you can love and comfort them in their time of need
Who brings a smile to misty eyes, and is always there when you call
Someone you can be with -- because you are no longer alone -- indeed

Someone who will know you better than you know yourself, it seems
Your beginnings and endings as they manifest in you and merge with
them -- as they should
Always the right word, or no word, or meeting you in dreams
Just a look that can say more than a thousand words ever could.

In all things they will be what you would want of yourself -- they complete you
Giving the joy of giving, with no thought or feeling not yours or theirs
You'll hardly be able to look in their eyes without love or woo
No longer will you have any distrust, fears, woes or cares.

Two souls that make one - again - Soulmates

BECAUSE

You make me whole
You make me weak
You let me love you
Your presence soothes me to sleep
It has been a long day for you to find me and now that you have, we
will never be apart
Your flesh is my flesh, your bone is my bone
I breathe easier with you near me
Your skin tastes salty and slightly sweet
I have explored your body and know its folds, creases and freckles
Your feet are cute
Your lips are soft
You take care of me
I can feel the texture of love between us, palpable and heavy, and
weigh it in my hands
I have cried at your shoulder
I can feel the passion rising inside of you, pulse deepening,
heartbeat quickening, heat coming through
I love who you are and who you will become
My back arches with your every kiss and breath
Your laugh makes me laugh
Your tears make me cry
Your love makes me love
You are mine

THUNDERSTORM

You were just in my thoughts
clouding my mind
when I attempt to look
you are all I see
I wonder what could it be
that you're the thunderstorm of my world
the thought of you hovers over me
when I think I'm about to do wrong
like the clouds of a thunderstorm
whenever it's not calm
moving like that of a protector
you take your place
and my second reasoning begins to occur
I feel your heartbeat
in the rhythm of the thunder
and it shakes me
and moves me...just a little farther
a little closer to understanding you
feeling you, being there for you
and flowing with you.
a strike of lightening
you bring into my sky
you brighten the darkness
and then the clouds begin to cry
I'm standing in your rain
and yet it doesn't feel wet
more like a blanket of comfort
letting me know that as long as you're my thunderstorm
my world will go on.

THE RENT'S ALREADY SPENT

I sit here this evening, feeling miserable and alone,
wondering to myself, if by tomorrow, I'll even have a home.
My slumlord is on my case, because I've not yet, paid the rent,
But how can I pay the rent, when the rent's already spent?
Over six grand, I've given him so far, hell, I've even gone so far
as to sell my car!
I try real hard to do the repairs myself, because my slumlord
would never volunteer his help.
I clean the house, I pay the bills, and I even cut the grass too,
But not one thing at this address, does my slumlord do.
The entire house needs to be painted, both outside and in,
But God forbid my slumlord to do his part,
Because he considers it a sin.
Yet, faithfully each month, he comes to collect his rent,
But this month, he'll be very disappointed.
Because the rent's already spent!

A POEM

Looking back on some old pictures
Each one containing a thousand words
How life as a child makes adult life seem so absurd
How falling in love was so much easier then
and fun came free by the barrel
How worry wasn't a word in your vocabulary
and worries weren't on your mind
And if you needed friends they weren't hard to find
'cause they all came a dozen for a dime
even though we only had a nickel to spare
But now we keep our friends close and our enemies closer
which shows how life has changed
From nickel candy to nickel bags
From slow dancing to taking slow drags
From husbands and wives to single parenthood
How the word love no longer means what it should
From loving families to domestic violence
From peace on the streets to loud police sirens
From boyfriends and girlfriends to baby's mothers and fathers
How the phone call you used to want is now the one that
annoys and bothers
From sexual innocence to volunteered sexual perversion
From strength in numbers to every man for himself conversion
From dreaming big since the speech was first heard
To crushing dreams since hate first occurred
But the changes that took place weren't always for the worst
and everyone born black wasn't born in a curse
'Cause from segregation to integration
From black and white to mixed
No more blacks in the back of the bus to seats anywhere you want to sit
From all niggas are dogs to opening your eyes wide and having a little
fun and putting stress aside
From dirty looks and crooks to tight hugs and one love
From dark clouds and gray skies
to sunshine from above.
