the ABC of it

WORDS.

xenophobes
yell
zealousy,
allegiantly
bellowing
claims;
denying
everyone,
fearing
gods

however,
i'll
joust
kindly,
lording
my
niche.

only
poets--
querulous,
recalcitrant,
strong--
take
umbrage:
vociferously.

ATTITUDE ZAP

A bewildering cold distance
embraces false generosities
Happy?
I just killed love.
Murmured niches of poetry
quell remembrances
Surly truths, unutterable, vexing
Worn Xanthippe, yesterday's zeitgeist

			MILLENIUM

Astral backlash, cosmic dimension, environmental fermentation, gradual
history, incidental jubilation, kinetic labyrinth, military negation,
optimistic pessimism, quaint, radical skepticism, toxic utopia, vague
willfulness, xenophobic youngsters, zero

             TRUE FATHERS

Good fathers are rare, daddies are plenty
I thank God for such "a for real" male figure
everyday to you a tribute is due, thanks for
being so visible, so true

Strong, yet silent, demanding but gentle,
come special occasions, presents, cards
celebrations, I'd get them, you display
amazement when looking at me, you're
the kind of parent I hope to be

I thank God you're here yet another time
to hear "Happy Father's Day"
Friend of Mine!

IT'S OK TO DIE

I remember the day you reached down and placed your hand on my head.
The time you put your arm around my shoulder.
That look of yours, a little smirk, anyone else would have thought you were mad.
I loved you Dad.

I remember where we fished.
The barbecues, and the trips to the Blue Hills.
I'd have my line in the water and you'd tell me, sit still.

I was young then, so were you.
I thought it would be forever, I never knew.
I used to blame you for holding me back.
I didn't understand then, but now I do.
I wanted to show you what I could do.
All the wheeling and dealing what I really wanted was you.
I know you loved me, and I know you cared.
That's why when it's time to go I won't be scared.

I remember the day you had to go.
I knew it in my heart, I knew it was so.
I stood by the stone for many a day.
I needed guidance. I expected you to tell me the way.

Dad I love you, I know you're here.
When I get called I'll see you there.
